Salt efflorescence (also known as saltpetre) forms when salt-laden ground water rises inside the wall and evaporates at the surface. It is the most distinctive sign of rising damp. To solve it, DampStop injection should be applied; the salt-contaminated plaster is then removed and the wall is re-plastered with HydroFix.
